Sonny Update (2)

Sonny has begun his course of chemotherapy and so far it has gone without a hitch. It is expected that he will begin to feel the bad effects in a few days but there is a possibility he could spend a few days at home starting on Christmas day.
The staff at Great Ormond Street continue to show a dedication beyond what one would have thought possible; he has a strong bond with many of the nursing staff and doctors and has a good understanding of what is happening to him.
The Supporting Sonny Through Lymphoma Group on Facebook now has approaching 300 members. Thanks to the bloggers who have joined. (By the way, a quick way to stop notifications coming as an email every time something is posted to the group is to click on 'Edit Settings' on the top right hand of the group page and take the tick out of the box which says 'Email notifications to...').
In the picture above Sonny is playing a guitar given to him by the Great Ormond Street charity. Last night four burly men from the London Fire Brigade came into the room with sacks of presents for him to choose from. He chose a Teddy Bear.
The family continue to be bowled over by the generosity shown to Sonny and to all of us.
May you have a peaceful and healthy Christmas, New Year and whatever else you may celebrate!

I do hope Sonny gets to spend some time at home over Christmas - though it sounds as if the hospital staff are treating him wonderfully well. Christmas blessings to you all. x

Sir Tom: Thank you Sir Tom. Here's to your health!

joanne: We hope this will happen but if it doesn't we will all be at the hospital.
Enjoy the festive season!

Wherever young Sonny spends Christmas, I can see you and yours will make it a very happy one for him. And, he’ll get the best thing any of us could want: a loving, caring family.

Happy Christmas to you all.

I am glad he is doing well. I hope this continues and he can enjoy some of the season at home with you and the rest of his family!

Santa Claus is alive and well in the hearts of children who believe all around the world. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy.

~Happy Christmas and Merry New Year from our family to you and yours

Kate: My wish is that he can still believe in Santa after what he is going through. Although only five years old he is very bright but I would hate for him to loose some of his childhood innocence.
Best wishes to you Kate.

Dear Bazza,

I hope that Sonny gets to come home today and celebrate, but am glad that no matter where you are you will be together. You must have quite a talented group among you...painting, guitar. I'd like to be at your Christmas table when the creative juices start to roll. Merry Christmas to all of you, and wishes to Sonny to be well during this tough time.

I wish your Grandson a speedy recovery and glad his chemo has gone smoothly so far. I'm glad to hear 300 and then some people have joined the support group so far. That's inspiring to me. He really looks happy in that picture with the guitar. I hope he, you and the rest of your family have a peaceful and loving Christmas.

Snee, Kathy and Kelly: It's 11:10pm in the UK right now and the good news is that Sonny is here at our place for two nights. He has slept well for the last four hours - something he hasn't done for three weeks.
A famous British businessman, whose daughter went to school with my elder daughter has just donated £50,000 to the hospital when he learned about Sonny!
Thank you all for visiting and your much appreciated good wishes.

been away from the computer for a few days and i just wanted to return the beautiful Christmas wishes you left for me, and to express how wonderful it is to hear news of Sonny and see another amazing photo of him. In so many ways a hard Christmas for you and for your family, and especially for Sonny... and in the most important way a most beautiful Christmas as well... the things closest and most important to the heart being right at the surface.

Wishing you and your family the best of everything in the new year and a restoration for Sonny to perfect health.
