Here are twenty self-portraits; they are all made by people from 'the arts' in general, not necessarily known as painters and one answer appears twice. How many can you name? Answers in about a week's time. No prizes other than the kudos of winning one of Bazza's quizzes! Come on, have a go!
I'm listening to Matching Mole; (Robert Wyatt will shortly feature in a post).

Hot from the desk of the rarely sober, yet fabulous, Sir Tom Eagerly:
I say Bazza, they aren't all of you and Mrs Bazza are they; or did I mean that the other way round?
Blimey, it's Sir Tom! Who woke you up (and why?).
No Sir Tom, they are all as stated.
I am not to good at this and can only name the five that are most familiar to people and I might be wrong on those. I see Van Gogh, Rembrant, Frieda Kahlo (saw the movie), Dali (love him), and da Vinci. I will come back later and study them more.
Hi bazza,
Well, here goes nothing.
1. Van Gogh. 2. Rembrandt. 3. Paul Gaugin. 4. Frida Kahlo. 5. Lucien Frued. 6. Annie Leibovitz. 7. Susie Sioux. 8. Velazquez. 9. Leonardo Da Vinci. 10. L.S. Lowry. 11. Francis Bacon. 12. David Hockney. 13. J.M.W. Turner. 14. Andy Warhol. 15. Salvador Dali. 16. No idea I'm afraid! 17. Carla Lane. 18. Claude Monet 19. Sylvia Plath. 20. Again, not a clue!
So, there it is, and with no cheating either, bazza!
I'll look forward to getting the answers next week.
Best Wishes,
David.
I think 17 is Joni Mitchell...
Arleen (Starting Over): I will await your return! Meanwhile , no comment.......
David: A really excellent effort.... but I won't comment further yet :-)
Joanne: .....and the other 19?
Oh, Bazza, you are a hard taskmaster! On the whole I agree with David above!
Joanne:
Fair enough!
Hi Bazza! I am afraid that I only know the obvious ones, although number 8 looks a bit like me after a night out!

Sorry that was the way it went into Word ... I don't know more than those ... now I'll check out the others ... and be back to see the rest ... cheers Hilary
Interesting post ... good to be tested ... I probably only knew Rembrandt as I've just given a talk on him ... I really do know nothing about art ...
Hi Hilary, I will wait for you to fill in some of the gaps!
Sorry that I did not get back to you on Saturday, but truly the only other ones I recognize are Annie Leibovitz (6) and possibly Joanie Mitchell (17). I could look them up on line, but that would be cheating.
John: Quite a few of these pictures look like the artist had just had a riotous night out (eg no. 11).
Arleen: Yes, there's no point in looking them up I suppose! Full answers next weekend.
Hi Bazza - sorry I'm going to have to wait too ... to check the answers out! Cheers H
Ha ha! OK Hilary - this weekend will be the big reveal!

Sherry: You will know number 20! Answers tomorrow!
No one has spotted the person who appears twice on the list - might be a shock when you find out!
Hi bazza,
I'd have a guess that the person who appears twice is Francis Bacon in no. 10 and no. 11, which would make my first guess of Lowry for no. 10 incorrect! I just have the feeling that I've seen painting no. 10 before and was very surprised when I discovered who'd painted it - such a child-like picture, I thought, for such an accomplished artist. So, that's my guess - I hope I'm right. Anyway, unless some bright spark comes along and foils my efforts, I do believe I may have the kudos of winning one of your esteemed quizzes, bazza! I'll be back tomorrow to find out.
All the best,
David.
The answers have now been published in a new post! Well done David.
