Hope (plus update on Sonny, 3)

Hope by Friedrich von Schiller
We speak with the lip, and we dream in the soul,
Of some better and fairer day;
And our days, the meanwhile, to that golden goal
Are gliding and sliding away.
Now the world becomes old, now again it is young,
But "The better" 's forever the word on the tongue.

At the threshold of life hope leads us in--
Hope plays round the mirthful boy;
Though the best of its charms may with youth begin,
Yet for age it reserves its toy

Update on Sonny (3)

Sonny on 5th January 2011. He can't always raise a smile like this!
Sonny has had his first course of chemotherapy successfully. He is beginning to loose his lovely thick black hair. He has good days and not-so-good days but the medical staff are pleased with his progress so far. His second round of chemotherapy will begin as soon as he is recovered from the first one. The support of family and friends and various children's charities has been wonderful and we are so thankful and grateful.
The Facebook group has now passed 300 members: Supporting Sonny Through Lymphoma

I'm so happy to hear that he's making progress. What a difficult time for you and your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that Sonny continues to improve and that you and your family keep the strength to continue giving your love and support to him through this difficult time. Both are very challenging places be.

What a smile!

I really like the poem you selected to go with this post. Sonny must be a remarkable child because his smile is radiant and his eyes sparkling even with the chemo. I think about you and your family often Bazza, and continue to wish Sonny a speedy recovery.

Glad to hear Sonny is making good progress, Bazza, thanks for keeping us updated.

Chemotherapy’s never fun, but it won’t last forever.

Keep the reports coming :)

In the picture, he looks to be in good spirits. Cute kid. It sad he has to go through that hell. I've got a young cousin who went through chemo for his cancer. He lost a lot. Hair. Weight. Some faith. Some hope. But he kept going. He's a fighter. Today, he is almost back to normal- healthwise. I'm glad Sonny is making progress and hope he keeps making it.

Dear bazza,
A lovely, suitable poem to go with this update on Sonny.
One can only "hope" that things will turn out OK. In fact, I'm sure that they will.
With Very Best Wishes to you and your family,
David.

Hi bazza,
Like David has noted the poem is most apt to accompany the update on Sonny.
Here's wishing that Sonny continues to progress though these most challenging of times.
With much respect, Gary.

HI B
Thankyou for sharing your blog it a gentle reminder of what is precious and important in life. I hope things get better for you and your family.

Kerrie: Yep, it ceertainly puts things in perspective and what I've learned is:
1) Which things are important in life.
2) Who the familie's real fiends are.
3) How you can never really know someone until a 'test' comes along.
Thanks for your kind words.

Thanks Dixie. He's doing really well now and only has to report to the hospital every three months.
